Summary

Blyth Riverside Resource Centre  

Care Worker  

Permanent

(Monday to Friday 6 hrs per day 9am to 3pm) 


The role:
The successful applicant will join a team of staff at the Blyth Riverside Resource Centre providing care and support to adults with learning difficulties.  

You will be expected to promote the wellbeing, self-confidence, and independence service users, providing activities that meet service users needs and interests, create opportunities for social contact and learning opportunities supporting service users to access and make best use of local community facilities. 

In your day-to-day duties you will be expected to provide care and support to the service user who attend the Day Centre assisting the supervisory team in the delivery of the Centre's timetable of activities.  

You will be expected to meet clients' intimate and personal needs and to maintain their privacy and dignity at all times. 

You may be expected to provide 1:1 support to a number of service users working both in and out of the Centre.  

You will act as a Key Worker for some individuals and will be expected to maintain appropriate written records, maintain communication with parents and carers and report any concerns/issues promptly advising supervisor staff/management of any change to care and support arrangements for the service user. 

If you hold a driving license, you will be expected to drive the Centre minibus, if you do not have a driving license, you will be expected to act as a passenger escort on the vehicle to meet the transport requirement of the post. 

You will administer medication in accordance with medical advice and service procedures observing best practice. 

You should be aware of and comply with relevant legislation's National Standards and Codes of Conduct for Social Care staff. 


Who are we looking for? 

You must have a good general education demonstrating literacy and numeracy, if you do not already have a care qualification you will be expected to undertake training. 
Teamwork is essential and you must be able to build positive working relationships, working cooperatively with service user, family's colleagues, and other professionals for the benefit of the service users 
A caring and cooperative attitude is essential; some experience of providing care is desirable. 
You should be reliable, consistent, calm and able to adapt to the needs of the service user. 
You should demonstrate openness, honesty, integrity and respect for service users. 
You should be observant and able to anticipate service user needs. 
Experience of using a Personal Computer is desirable.
