The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support secondary-aged students with a variety of special educational needs. You will assist with delivering personalised learning activities, provide one-to-one or small group support, and help foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment. This role is perfect for someone who is patient, proactive, and committed to helping students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Support teachers in planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons.
Provide individual or small group support tailored to student needs.
Monitor and record students' progress, including EHCP-related goals.
Collaborate with the teaching team to maintain a nurturing and supportive classroom.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment that builds student confidence and engagement.
Key Requirements
Experience working with children or young people (school-based experience preferred).
Strong communication, numeracy, and IT skills.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
Compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to supporting students with SEN.
Understanding of strategies to create safe, engaging, and inclusive learning spaces.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience supporting neurodiverse learners or students with additional needs.
Knowledge of personalised learning strategies and behaviour support techniques.
Flexible, student-focused approach prioritising well-being and progress.
