Family Support Worker Roles
The organisation provides specialist residential support to vulnerable families referred by local authorities across Birmingham, Worcester, Hereford, and Somerset. The service operates from a beautiful property with 8 self-contained apartments, offering a safe, nurturing environment where families can build stability, confidence, and essential parenting skills.
Most families referred are new parents, though the setting also accommodates families with older children who require structured support. Each placement lasts 16 weeks, during which families receive tailored guidance to help them develop the skills needed for independent living and safe parenting.
The families supported may be experiencing a range of challenges, including:

  • Early-stage parenting support needs
  • Relationship or communication difficulties
  • Substance misuse issues
  • Mental health concerns
  • Domestic abuse
  • Lack of family network or community support

The service is highly values-driven and focused on creating a legacy of positive change, not financial gain. The organisation prioritises compassion, non-judgmental support, and developmental guidance to help families progress safely and confidently.
Staff work closely with families on:

  • Parenting routines and child development
  • Household and daily living skills
  • Emotional support and resilience building
  • Observations and assessments
  • Signposting to external services (MH, substance misuse, DA support)
  • Building independence, structure, and safe parenting habits

The ideal candidates are those with strong people skills, empathy, and the ability to build trust with families from diverse backgrounds. While an NVQ Level 3 is desirable, applicants from different sectors with transferable experience (care, education, health, supported housing, youth work, community services) are highly encouraged to apply.
Staff must be able to commit to the 24/7 rota 13 shifts over 4 weeks (6 nights/7 days) including alternate weekends and be resilient, flexible, and passionate about making a real impact in the lives of vulnerable families.
