Ysgol Maes Hyfryd is seeking a reliable, hardworking and conscientious School Cleaner to provide an efficient and effective cleaning service across designated areas of the school, in line with health & safety requirements including COSHH.Contract DetailsHours: 14.5 hours per weekContract: Temporary, fixed-term until 31 August 2026. The post will be reviewed with a view to becoming permanent, subject to budget availability, funding and operational need.Salary: £24,413 – £25,185 pro rataActual salary: £8,056.29 – £8,311.05 per annumMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs a School Cleaner, you will:Clean designated areas of the school in accordance with the building cleaning specification, as directed by the Cleaning Supervisor / Line ManagerOperate cleaning machinery safely and correctly in line with manufacturer instructions and health & safety guidanceClean and maintain cleaning equipment in line with manufacturer instructionsUse cleaning chemicals and materials safely and correctly, in accordance with COSHH and other health & safety procedures (including the use of PPE)Collect and remove waste/rubbish from designated areas to collection points as directedFollow all procedures relating to school security and confidentialityTasks May IncludeCleaning toilets, emptying bins, mopping floor areas, and cleaning windows, walls and doorsRemoving graffiti as directed and leaving areas in an appropriate conditionUsing appropriate signage while cleaning (e.g., wet floor warning signs)Following the order of daily tasks for each area as directedWorking with colleagues and covering absences where required to maintain cleanliness across the schoolReporting any shortfall in cleaning materials so stock levels are maintainedCompleting cleaning tasks within timescales allocated by the Cleaning Supervisor / Line ManagerReporting any issues that prevent tasks being completed to the supervisorHanding in any sensitive information found during duties to the supervisor or other appropriate personWhat We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who:Has a good attitude to work and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe environmentCan work under direction and follow procedures consistentlyCan work thoroughly and to set timescalesWorks well as part of a teamExperience / Training / QualificationsTraining will be providedNo formal qualifications requiredSafeguardingYsgol Maes Hyfryd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
