Summary

Fabricator – Plymouth

We are recruiting skilled Marine Fabricators to join our teams across multiple business areas in Plymouth. These roles support key programmes including Warship refit projects, Submarine maintenance and upgrades, and factory-based engineering activities. Positions are available on a full-time basis and offer long-term, stable employment on major UK defence projects.

Main Purpose of the Role

As a Fabricator, you will use your technical expertise to support the delivery of complex marine engineering projects. You will undertake structural repairs, alterations and module fabrication across a range of platforms. Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications, you will fabricate and modify structures using a variety of metals and material thicknesses.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate strong technical skills, a commitment to safe working practices and the ability to interpret engineering instructions accurately. In return, we offer the opportunity to contribute to some of the most significant engineering programmes in the UK.

Ideally, candidates will have experience working within the marine engineering sector, particularly on Royal Navy ships, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships. However, relevant experience from other engineering industries will also be considered.

Preferable Experience

  • Experience within a marine engineering environment


  • Completion of a time-served apprenticeship in Marine or Naval Engineering


    Required Qualifications


    Applicants must hold at least one of the following:

    • Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to the role


    • Level 2 or 3 Modern Apprenticeship in sheet metal, structural steel or a fabrication-related discipline


    • Level 2 or 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role


      The ability to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance is essential for this position.
