Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, dynamic and committed Academic Tutor to join our Higher Education team.
Here at Loughborough College, we are determined to ensure that all of our HE Blended learning students reach their full potential and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to lead successful futures. Academic Tutors are a key part of our support network.
Our curriculum provision within the Higher Education Blended Learning department ranges from Levels 4-6 and includes HNC and BSc (hons) programmes in Sport and Exercise Science and Sport Coaching with Development, as well as HNC/D programmes in Business. We are part of one of the largest Higher Education in Further Education providers in the country, with high levels of student satisfaction and graduate employment.
As a dedicated academic tutor for our blended learners, you will be responsible for supporting students, both pastorally and academically, across all HE Blended programmes. You will have excellent knowledge of the higher-level study skills required in Higher Education and will provide advice, guidance and support to students through a range of approaches. These will include group tutorials, formal meetings and one-to-one meetings, as well as signposting students to relevant college services. The role also includes the development and delivery of academic skills learning resources, both face to face and online through our virtual learning environment.
You will have experience of motivating young people to achieve excellent results and will help students to reflect on what they need to do to improve, ensuring that appropriate interventions are in place for them to succeed.
We are looking for someone who, as a minimum, has a degree and is a strong communicator, with excellent presentation skills, including delivery to groups. Experience of working in an education and a Higher Education setting is preferable, however we are keen to hear from applicants who can display transferable skills of flexibility, communication, initiative and building positive relationships. These skills are crucial to working effectively with lecturers, support staff and students.
