We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer on a 3 month contract for one of our clients based in Canterbury;
About the Role - Transport Required due to rural location
As the Health & Safety Advisor, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of the workforce and the safe operation of the manufacturing and yard environments. You'll be responsible for assessing risks, developing robust safety practices, and helping embed a culture where safety is a core value.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across production, yard, transport, and office areas.
- Develop, update, and implement Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
- Provide guidance to managers and staff on compliance with current H&S legislation and best practice.
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Deliver or coordinate training on relevant safety topics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety culture and reduce workplace incidents.
- Maintain accurate H&S records, reports, and documentation.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, timber engineering, or a related environment is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of current UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proactive, organised, and confident in challenging unsafe practices.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to spend time on the shop floor.
