About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Officer to join our Infrastructure team. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our staff, students, and visitors. You will act as the University’s senior advisor on fire safety, providing expert guidance, managing risk, and driving continuous improvement across all campuses.
Main Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will be :
Lead on fire safety compliance and risk management across University premises
Conduct and review fire risk assessments in line with current legislation and standards
Advise on fire protection systems, emergency evacuation plans, and support for vulnerable individuals
Deliver fire safety training and coordinate drills to ensure competency
Investigate fire-related incidents and implement corrective actions
Collaborate with colleagues on health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives
You will have:
NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate.
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IFSM)
Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, standards, and best practice
Excellent organisational and IT skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
A proactive approach and commitment to delivering service excellence
