Hertfordshire Musculoskeletal Service is currently seeking a Band 8a Musculoskeletal Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) to work within the MSK Clinical , Assessment and Treatment Service ( MSKCATS) in the North Hertfordshire area.
This is an opportunity to further develop your specialist clinical musculoskeletal expertise and leadership skills as part of an experienced out-patient integrated service. We have a commitment to clinical quality and ensure regular supervision and CPD opportunities.
You will be working within the MSK Clinical , Assessment and Treatment Service (MSKCATS) which form part of the integrated community MSK Services in the trust working alongside MSK Physiotherapy , the ACTIVATE for CFS and Persistent Pain team and the Hand Therapy team.
The successful applicant will be fully supported to develop the skills and expertise within the Musculoskeletal APP role.
The APP is the primary decision maker in the triage of Orthopaedic, Pain and Rheumatology referrals from GPs and Allied Health Professionals, which would traditionally be seen by a consultant. This includes referring patients with serious pathology and immediate surgical/medical needs directly into secondary care.
To undertake a highly specialised comprehensive assessment of patients including those with complex and diverse conditions.
To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, coordination and palpatory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
To use highly developed clinical reasoning and evidence based knowledge to draw up an appropriate management plan with the patient. To implement specialist treatment either within the MSK multidisciplinary service or referral on to other services.
To initiate and interpret specialist investigations (such as X-ray, ultrasound, MRI) to assist in the formation of a diagnosis and treatment plan.
To prescribe and administer injections (such as cortico-steroid injections and local anaesthetics) for treatment and diagnostic purposes.
