Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for a Gravedigger to join our bereavement team on a permanent basis.

NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.

Position Details

Working as part of a small team providing all duties assigned to provision of the bereavement service, including operating plant & machinery, carrying out the burial service, routine associated maintenance and ancillary work as determined necessary across the 33 cemeteries

Applicants should have a full, current, manual driving licence and should be able to operate plant machinery competently. It is desirable if you are mini digger trained or have competent operator certification and have a Federation of Burial & Cremation Authorities (FBCA) or Institute of Cemetery & Crematorium Management (ICCM) crematorium training scheme qualification and / or Cemetery Operative training/ SVQ Cemetery Operations.

You should be flexible and open to new ways of working and be able to demonstrate your ability to work as part of a small team.

Contract Details

Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week

Work Pattern: Monday - Friday (8.30am - 4pm), every second Saturday 9.am - 1.pm and 1 Sunday in 6 on standby.

Annual Salary: £25,151.16 - £26,745.03 on an incremental scale

Additional Payments: In addition to the annual salary the role attracts a non-standard work pattern/hours (NSWPH) payment of £2,173 and a working context & demand (WCD) payment of £ 1856.
