About the Role

A new opportunity is available for an Electrical Engineer to join a technical design team based in Exeter. This role involves contributing to the delivery of complex building services projects across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, industrial, and public-sector developments.

You will work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, engaging with electrical, mechanical, sustainability and architectural professionals to deliver coordinated, high-quality engineering solutions. This position offers excellent scope for professional growth, exposure to a wide range of project types, and the ability to take ownership of technical elements from early concept stages through to site delivery.

Key Responsibilities

In this varied and engaging role, you can expect to:
Provide detailed, coordinated and cost-effective electrical engineering design to meet client and project requirements
Develop high-quality specifications, calculations, drawings, reports and schedules, ensuring technical excellence
Use digital engineering tools such as Revit, BIM, Dialux, Relux, Electrical OM and other modelling platforms to support efficient and accurate design delivery
Take responsibility for delivering smaller projects or defined work packages with minimal supervision
Attend client meetings, design team meetings (DTMs), site visits and inspections, representing the electrical discipline professionally
Collaborate closely with internal design teams, external consultants, contractors and stakeholders to ensure a well-coordinated approach to project development
Review and interpret design briefs, ensuring technical solutions align with regulatory standards and best practice
Support the development of new ways of working, digital design improvements and innovative approaches that enhance project outcomes
Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and offer support or informal mentoring to early-career engineers, apprentices and graduates
Manage your workflow, deadlines and priorities effectively in a dynamic project environment

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer, ideally within building services or a closely related engineering discipline
Strong capability in the design and development of electrical systems, including power, lighting, containment, fire alarms and low-voltage infrastructure
Familiarity with modern digital design tools including BIM/Revit, Dialux, Relux and related platforms
Experience working in a design-oriented, client-facing environment, confidently engaging with contractors, architects and multidisciplinary partners
Excellent communication, report-writing and technical presentation skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to team development
An interest in supporting junior team members by sharing knowledge and expertise
