Manchester Register Office is currently seeking a Registration Officer. This role requires previous experience of working within civil registration in this country.

As a Registration Officer you would be required to register births, deaths, stillbirths, marriages and civil partnerships as well as facilitate Citizenship Ceremonies, locate and issue historic certificates and provide clear, comprehensible advice and assistance to residents. You will on occasions be required to work across the city at Surestart centres, licensed wedding and civil partnership venues as well as varied religious premises, with transport provided where required. You will be required to conduct the full range of different ceremonies offered by Manchester Register Office.

In addition to working Monday to Friday, you would be required to work one Saturday morning every 7 weeks in the Register Office, as well as a maximum of 8 shifts on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays to provide cover for ceremonies at a variety of venues. Payment for this out-of-hours work is highly competitive.

About the Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual with previous experience of working within civil registration, a keen eye for detail and a very strong customer focus. You must be able to work flexibly and be responsive to the demands and priorities of a fast-paced service. You should have exceptional people skills, tact and emotional intelligence as you will be dealing with people at times of tremendous emotion.

You should have proven communication and customer-care skills of the highest order, experience of cash handling or financial reconciliation as well as dealing with and reconciling certificate stock within a Register Office setting.
