We specialise in making home education accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for all learners, with a strong focus on supporting families and adapting to individual learning needs.
We are expanding our team and looking for a passionate, reliable Primary and GCSE Tutor to join us.
Role Overview
We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic tutor to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition from Primary level through to GCSE (Maths, English, and Science). Training and ongoing support will be provided.
This role involves working both online and face-to-face, from:
The student’s home
The tutor’s home
Our Grimsby office
You will work with a range of learners, including those who are home educated, neurodivergent, or experiencing mental health challenges. This position is ideal for someone adaptable, empathetic, and committed to making learning a positive experience.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, personalised 1:1 and small group tuition from Primary level up to GCSE in core subjects (Maths, English, Science).
Plan and deliver lessons tailored to each student’s needs, abilities, and learning goals.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding progress and support needs.
Use a variety of teaching strategies to support neurodivergent learners and students with mental health challenges.
Maintain accurate session notes and uphold Tilly’s Tutoring safeguarding and professional standards.
Travel to students’ homes where necessary or host sessions at your own home or our office in Grimsby.
Requirements
Essential:
Strong subject knowledge in Primary curriculum and/or GCSE Maths, English, or Science.
Willingness to support and teach younger learners.
Excellent communication skills and a student-centred approach.
Ability to work independently and reliably.
Availability for at least two evenings per week.
Willingness to deliver both online and in-person tuition.
A nurturing, patient, and flexible approach to teaching.
Desirable:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching/tutoring experience.
Experience working with neurodivergent learners (e.g., ADHD, autism) or students with mental health difficulties.
DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Experience supporting home-educated children.
