Crynodeb
A Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support an 11 year old boy in the HU5 area of Hull. The PA will support mum with caring for this boy and will take instruction from mum.
He loves to go to the park, go swimming and enjoys both local and long bus rides, sitting upstairs where possible. He likes to go outside for a walk when he is overwhelmed. He loves nursery rhymes with action. He also wants a tight hug when he is stressed or upset.
He uses a wheelchair when he is outside the home. He will need support to go to the toilet; he needs to go once every two hours, but mum will give guidance on this.
In the cold weather he needs to stay indoors and the PA will help to do everyday therapy based activity with this boy.
The PA will need to be patient and understanding of this boy’s needs and training or experience of supporting young people with Autism would be beneficial. He is non-verbal, but can take simple instruction.
A car driver with access to their own transport would be preferred.
The successful applicant will be prepared to have a DBS check.
“Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.”
