Are you passionate about delivering safe and efficient medication management in a specialist care setting? Join our team at The Dean Neurological Centre and play a vital role in supporting service users and the multidisciplinary team while ensuring compliance with company procedures and best practice standards. In this role, you will work alongside the GP service, nursing teams and our pharmacy provider to ensure medications are ordered, dispense and received on site in a timely manner. You will act on safety alerts, maintain secure storage of medications and attend monthly multidisciplinary meetings to support collaborative care planning. Your responsibilities will include contributing to clinical governance, participating in audits and liaising with pharmacy and nursing staff to continuously improve service delivery.

You will provide visibility and support across departments, ensuring both clinical and non-clinical teams have access to pharmacy expertise throughout the working week. Escalating quality concerns, maintaining professional standards, and ensuring compliance with GPhC guidance will be central to your role. You will also deliver staff training relevant to medication management and support service development initiatives.

  • To work alongside the GP service, Multidisciplinary Team and Identified Pharmacy to ensure medications are ordered, dispensed and received on site in a timely manner.
  • Act on any safety alerts provided by the wider company to ensure residents safety is prioritised.
  • Ensure safe storage of medications in line with nursing teams.
  • Attend the monthly multidisciplinary meetings and partake as appropriate.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, ensuring any change to practice or local policy is directed through this forum.
  • Professional Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Ensure professional accreditations are maintained in line with General Pharmaceutical Council guidance.
  • Escalate any quality concerns or incidences in line with company policy.
  • Work in a collaborative way with clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
  • Ensure both departments have access to Pharmacy Technician support as required throughout the working week by providing visibility to both teams.
  • Liaising with the pharmacy provider and nursing staff to enable development of the service.
  • Participating in audits enabling improvements and development of the service as appropriate.
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the principles and practice for pharmacy technicians or equivalent experience and qualifications
Where you will be working

The Dean Neurological Centre has 60 beds in Gloucester (GL2 9EE), which is on the outskirts of the town within easy commute from Gloucester, Cheltenham and surrounding villages.

The Centre delivers specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability.

It specialises in slow stream rehabilitation where the emphasis is placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort and quality of life.

Bedrooms are fitted with high dependency equipment, including ceiling track hoists, wall mounted suction and oxygen equipment., with all rooms adapted to individual requirements. There are also well-equipped therapy facilities and other facilities such as gardens, gym and minibus.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • GPhC Registration
  • Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians (or a BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences).
  • A minimum of two years of supervised, practical experience in a pharmacy setting.
