Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the Southwest, educating over 1,000 pupils aged 3-18. We are looking to appoint a Facilities Assistant – minibus driver to join our school, a school of great character, to start immediately.

This post will support the smooth daily running of our busy independent school. This hands-on role suits someone who enjoys variety—preparing classrooms and event spaces, assisting with deliveries, carrying out site checks and housekeeping, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

A key part of the job is transporting pupils to and from school. You’ll carry out basic vehicle checks, keep the minibus clean and ready, and ensure pupils travel safely and behave appropriately. Good communication skills and a calm, practical approach are essential.

Shifts run Monday to Friday, either 06:30–14:00 or 11:00–19:00, with opportunities for additional hours. The rate of pay is £13.50 per hour.

We’re looking for someone organised, enthusiastic and punctual, with an eye for detail and the ability to work well within a team. A full UK driving licence with D1 category is required. A First Aid qualification and basic vehicle maintenance knowledge are welcome additions.

This role is part of our Operations and Professional Services team. This is full time role (37.5 hours per week, year-round). We offer generous benefits, including free school lunch during term time, free on-site parking and use of indoor swimming pool and fitness suite. To find out more about working at Exeter School, please visit our webpage, careers with character.

The closing date for applications is noon on Monday 15 December 2025. To apply please contact hr@exeterhscool.org.uk.

We reserve the right to close before the advertisement expires, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Exeter School is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from any appropriately qualified person. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. Employment is subject to the receipt of two satisfactory references provided specifically for this post and addressed to the school, and to satisfactory DBS clearance.

This post falls into the category of Regulated Activity. Exeter School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
