This is an exciting role that will see the post holder managing a portfolio of work relating to a full and diverse range of support activities and opportunities for learners across the Department. These learners will include medical students, training doctors, locally employed doctors, consultant educators and medical education staff. It is likely that the portfolio will be focused on undergraduate and Foundation Programme learners.


The role will also involve leading on the day-to-day operation of quality assurance and educational governance of postgraduate and undergraduate education and training within the Department. Working with our Senior Medical Education Managers, our Medical Education Managers, other Medical Education staff, clinical colleagues and our Director of Medical Education, the post holder will support the implementation of all aspects of the activities of the Quality and Governance Committee in relation to their specific portfolio.
Role specific duties
This exciting, busy role will manage a portfolio of work that will see them working with colleagues to support learners in areas such as:

· Induction

· Curriculum

· Undergraduate placements and timetables

· Study leave

· Students and trainees in need of additional support

· Careers

· Postgraduate medical education qualifications

· Accommodation and travel

· Training and professional development

· Transitions (TTF1, from role to role, returning to work etc.)

· Personal wellbeing and health

· Student and trainee representation

· Junior Doctor Forum



As well as having responsibility for quality assurance in undergraduate education and training.

Support our educational governance and drive quality improvement by,

· Managing the induction of all medical students and foundation programme training doctors under the direction of clinical and senior colleagues

· Delivering the work of the Quality and Governance Committee

Support our training doctors, medical students and other learners by

· Providing leadership and managerial oversight of key areas of learner support across postgraduate and undergraduate education and training.

· Working with others to assess individual or cohort needs or issues to enable appropriate onward referrals and/or specific interventions or training requirements as appropriate. Needs or issues may be academic or pastoral

Support our educators by,

· Liaising effectively with medical education clinical and non-clinical staff on information related to learners

· Assisting in the liaison and interface arrangements between quality assurance and educational governance teams and specialist clinical teams to ensure that learner needs are met

Create high quality learning environment and culture by,

· Promoting and practicing the values, principles and behaviors of the Trust and Department

· Sustaining an up-to-date knowledge of local, regional and national policies and procedures relating to student and trainee progress and to the ongoing professional development of doctors
