Are you ready to take on a strategic leadership role that shapes the future of transportation and infrastructure?

Join us as a Service Manager - Highways & Transportation and become a key player in delivering the Council’s functions and duties under the Highways Act 1980, Traffic Management Act 2004, and related legislation.

This dynamic role involves:



Long-term transportation and infrastructure planning, through the development of the Council’s transportation strategy and related policy development.
Close collaboration with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to achieve shared transport objectives.
Efficient delivery of capital projects and programmes, including major highway schemes, highway maintenance, and safer roads programmes. You will work closely with colleagues managing the Council’s operational depots and commissioning works by private sector providers.
Network management, including street works, reactive maintenance, improvements to existing highways (S278), and adoption of new highways (S38).
All aspects of road and pedestrian safety, including the delivery of a safer roads programme.
Management of the Council’s on-street and off-streetcar parking provision and civil parking enforcement.
Assisting the Local Planning Authority by assessing the impact of spatial strategies and development proposals on highway and transport networks.
