Hiyield is a climate conscious digital product studio that’s proudly B Corp and 80% employee owned. We help purpose-driven organisations do more good in the world by creating showstopping websites, apps, and digital tools – and we’re looking for a new Senior WordPress Developer to join our growing team.

We have a serious curiosity streak and a healthy obsession with building brilliant things! We’re a friendly bunch who care about the planet, our clients, and each other. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. Check out our about page to get to know us a little better.

Spoiler alert: when you work with us, there will be an abundance of bad jokes and allotment updates on our weekly team catch-up call.

Why work at Hiyield
We want you to do your best work and live a good life when you’re off the clock. So we’ve built a culture (backed up with policies) that puts people first:

Flexible hours & remote-friendly working – life happens, kids need to get to school, we need to get outside and move in daylight, etc – we get it
Work from home, our Bristol Hub, or our HQ in Truro, Cornwall
You get 25 days leave (increasing annually) + Bank Holidays + a Christmas closure that doesn’t come out of your holiday allowance
Enhanced sick pay and private healthcare
Genuinely supportive wellbeing policies that help us be our best selves
Robust policies for equality, equity, diversity and inclusion – we’re committed to being a supportive and empowering workplace where everyone can succeed
Training budget & development time to keep you growing
Climate-conscious approach – we’re always trying to do better
No ego, no drama, no “team rockstars” – just a supportive, collaborative team

Is this you?
You’re someone who lights up when creating clever, custom WordPress builds. You know your way around PHP, Gutenberg, modern tooling, and the ins and outs of building secure, fast, accessible sites.

But you’re also great with people – whether you’re chatting with clients, pairing with a designer, or guiding other developers through a tricky build. You enjoy sharing knowledge, asking questions, and championing best practices.

You don’t need to tick every box to apply. If you care about doing good work and growing your craft, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for:

Deep experience with WordPress, PHP, and modern theme/plugin development
A solid grasp of HTML, CSS/Sass, JavaScript, and build tools
An understanding of accessibility, performance, and best practices
Experience working across multiple projects (agency or similar)
Confidence in discussing ideas with clients and colleagues
A collaborative, curious personality
Bonus points if you have:

Headless WordPress experience
React knowledge
CI/CD familiarity
An eye for UX and user-centred thinking
What you’ll be doing
Building bespoke WordPress themes and plugins that are polished, performant, and easy to maintain
Working with our designers to bring digital experiences to life
Leading technical decisions on projects
Helping shape our WordPress approach as we grow
Supporting other devs through pairing, reviews, and knowledge sharing
Working on projects that sit in that sweet spot between purposeful and creatively satisfying

Our hiring process
Apply online using the handy form
If we think we’re a good match, you’ll be invited to a remote interview
We will share the questions in advance
Then if you’re through to the next round, you’ll be set a technical task
As well as being invited to a final interview
Then we will make a job offer to our new hire

How to apply
Please fill in the short form on our website with your name, contact details, CV and cover letter.
Feel free to drop in a website/portfolio link to wow us.
If someone at Hiyield sent you, please share their name so we can say thanks!
