About the Role
- Position: SEND Teaching Assistant
- Location: Oldham
- Setting: Primary & Secondary SEN school (Autism)
- Working With: Pupils 1:1 and in classroom settings
You will provide 1:1 support to students with Autism, assisting them with learning, social interaction, and engagement. You'll also work alongside classroom teachers to support group activities and ensure each pupil can thrive in a safe, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support individual pupils 1:1 with learning and personal development
- Assist teachers in the classroom and help facilitate group activities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students
- Support pupils in developing communication, social, and learning skills
- Implement strategies to manage behaviour and provide a calm, consistent presence
- Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams
Who We're Looking For
- Experienced TAs and those new to SEND work are welcome
- Transferable skills from roles in youth work, care, mentoring, or similar are valued
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils
- Passionate about helping children achieve and grow
- Confident in building strong rapport and supporting pupils with Autism
