1:1 Primary Mentor (Part-Time)
4 Hours per Day | 4 Days per Week | 9:30am-1:30pm

Do you have the resilience, patience, and confidence to support pupils who've been excluded from mainstream education but have not yet moved into an alternative provision or PRU? We're looking for a dedicated 1:1 Primary Mentor to work with children who need guidance, structure, and a safe, consistent adult outside of a typical school setting.

About the Role
- Position: 1:1 Primary Mentor
- Hours: Part-time (9:30am-1:30pm), 4 days per week
- Contract: Ongoing
- Location: Various community settings
- Driving: Ideally able to drive (picking pupils up from home required)

You will work one-to-one with primary-aged pupils who are currently out of school. Instead of being based on-site, you'll support them in external community spaces-for example, a library or similar quiet environment-where you can help them with their primary-level work and provide structure to their day.

Key Responsibilities
- Collecting the pupil from their home each morning
- Supporting them with primary learning tasks and activities
- Using public or community spaces (library, community hub, etc.) as a learning base
- Providing structure, routine, and emotional guidance
- Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours
- Helping pupils rebuild confidence and engagement in learning
- Communicating regularly with the wider support team

What We're Looking For
- Someone resilient, calm and confident with behaviour management
- Experience of working with pupils who have complex or challenging behaviour
- A background in school or education is strongly preferred-such as:
- Teaching Assistant
- Behaviour Mentor
- Learning Mentor
- Youth Worker
- Ability to work independently and manage daily routines
- Ideally a driver with access to a car

Why This Role Matters

These pupils are at a crucial point in their education journey. Your support can help them stay connected to learning, rebuild trust in adults, and develop the stability they need to return to a more structured environment.

This is a meaningful, hands-on role for someone who wants to make a genuine difference to vulnerable young learners.
