YMCA Mansfield has a unique opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team as a Housing Needs Assessor on a part time, permanent
basis.




Working 16 hours per week, across 3 days (although we are open to other work patterns), you will provide valuable administrative
support to our Supported Housing Team. You will work as part of our friendly, dedicated team supporting vulnerable adults and
young people to ensure they have a safe, secure place to live where they can gain the skills they need to live independently.




This is a really varied role where no 2 days will ever be the same!




On a day-to-day basis, you can expect to:




* Meet with prospective residents to undertake face to face interviews
* Complete the paperwork following the Assessment
* Process referrals
* Conduct eligibility and reference checks
* Communicate decisions to applicants in a sensitive and professional manner
* Maintain reports about available bed spaces
* Provide admin support to the Housing Team
* To update and maintain effective, accurate reporting (including the completion of statutory forms), filing and recording
systems in relation to applicants and move ins
* To assist with any administration tasks and in the development of service improvements
* Update all relevant information to our Housing IT System







About You




We are looking for someone who has a mix of both customer service and administration experience.




From a customer service perspective, we are looking for someone who has experience of dealing with a wide range of different
customers and has had to managed difficult or sensitive information previously.




As you carry out the Assessments, you will hear people’s life story and sometimes, this can be traumatic to hear. You need to be
resilient and objective to process what you are hearing with sensitivity and empathy.




You will need to be confident and able to lead those conversation ensuring you ask the right questions without being judgemental
or making assumptions.




If you have gained an understanding of homelessness, drug or alcohol addiction or other issues affecting vulnerable adults and
young people today, this would be highly beneficial.




You will need good written and spoken communication skills and have great attention to detail to ensure that the Assessment are
accurately completed. You will need to be confident using Microsoft packages, predominately Outlook, Teams and Word but Excel
would be helpful too. You will be confident to pick up new systems including our Housing System. Full training on that specific
system will be given but your confidence using IT in general will be really important to ensure you can use it effectively.




The recruitment process aims to create and maintain a safe workforce and contains robust vetting procedures. This post is subject
to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check (paid for by YMCA) and registration with the DBS Update Service. We reserve the right to
