Head of Financial Control and Continuous Improvement
Salary: £90,000
Location: Ealing office base with hybrid working
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week

Role Overview
We are looking for a Head of Financial Control and Continuous Improvement to join our dedicated Finance department. The Head of FC & CI will play a pivotal role in achieving improved integrity in financial reporting. This will include establishing strong financial controls, mitigating reporting risk and supporting strategic financial planning.
This role combines technical expertise with change management and leadership, offering the opportunity to enhance financial decision-making and ensure regulatory compliance across the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Control
Transform the monthly closing and consolidation process to achieve best in class standards including “right first time” data entry
Document the full suite of financial control processes and implement improvements to ensure that our financial information is accurate and complete and correctly recorded and classified
Design and implement effective balance sheet reconciliation processes
Redesign the chart of accounts, and hierarchies to support improvements in data quality.
Tax Compliance & Strategy
Fully document and risk assess existing tax compliance processes and implement changes to create a high performing tax function
Overall responsibility for all tax matters
Audit & Risk
Create risk assessed procedure documentation for all key finance activities
Draft group statutory accounts and lead the annual audit process
Leadership & Collaboration
Supervise and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Collaborate with operational teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making
Collaborate with various transformation teams – including as customer to the longer term plans for Finance transformation
Contribute to strategic projects including funding, investment appraisal, and financial modelling.
More about you
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Math’s and English (Grades A*- C)
Holder of a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA)
Experience of senior finance role in the social housing sector
Knowledge of IFRS and FRS102 (Expert)
Knowledge of tax in relation to social housing sector (Proficient)
Skilled in implementing strong financial controls (Expert)
Strong Excel skills
