Exciting Opportunity: ICT Teacher Role in New SEN School in Surrey!

Are you a passionate and skilled ICT Teacher looking to make a significant impact on the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Join a brand-new SEND Secondary School in Chaldon, Surrey, as part of the growing Aurora Group. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the school from the very start of its journey!

This is a permanent contract with a desired start date in January 2026.

About the School and Our Students

The school is a new SEND Secondary School opened in September 2025 for young people aged 11-16 who require specialist support. Our students have social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs, typically associated with autism. They access a broad and exciting curriculum, personalised to meet their individual needs, interests, and passions, within a model of small classes and high levels of classroom support.

The Role: Main Purpose and Key Responsibilities

As a Teacher, your Main Purpose will be to deliver high-quality teaching and learning for these children and young people.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Being responsible for the high quality of teaching and learning of all assigned pupils, and their progress, welfare, and outcomes.

  • Supervising the work of any support staff working with your pupils.

  • Providing leadership across the school in a designated subject (in this case, ICT), pastoral, or curriculum area. This includes monitoring quality and standards, contributing to school planning, and providing professional support to other staff.

  • Taking responsibility for implementing school policies and practice, including safeguarding and equality of opportunity.

Key Duties related to curriculum and teaching involve:

  • Contributing to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard for the educational, physical, and social needs of the students.

  • Developing lesson plans, analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.

  • Setting, monitoring, and reviewing personalised targets to optimise learning for each individual.

  • Working collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Appropriately managing challenging behaviours within the school policy and procedures.

  • Maintaining an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism to plan for effective teaching and learning.

What You Need (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • A working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.

  • Evidence of sound knowledge of the National Curriculum.

  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.

Key Skills:

  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording, and reviewing students' progress.

  • Good IT skills and an understanding of how IT can be used to support learning.

  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a special school environment, especially with pupils with autism.

  • The ability to drive is desirable as public transport connections to the school location are limited.

If you are a committed and enthusiastic teacher ready to take on this exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you! Please call Paul Hirchfield at Randstad on 01293 257416 or email paul.hirchfield@randstadeducation.co.uk
