Purpose of the role
At Camira, a leading innovator in sustainable textiles, we’re seeking a resilient and motivated Health and Safety Specialist for our Holmfirth site. You will play a key role in strengthening our commitment to a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace.
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, and Environment, you’ll help implement and improve HSE systems, navigate complex challenges, and uphold our zero-harm ethos. Your balanced, solutions-driven approach will support safe operations and reinforce Camira’s reputation as a responsible industry leader.
The day to day
• To adhere to the Camira Code of Conduct and comply with all relevant quality, environmental, health & safety, data protection, and corporate legislative requirements
• Improve the site’s Health & Safety culture through visibility, engagement, consultation, and behavioural safety initiatives.
• Create, review, and update risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work to reduce risks and impacts.
• Develop and deliver in-house training and monthly HSE focus activities.
• Report and investigate accidents, incidents, and environmental events in line with Camira standards.
• Manage hazards and work with departments to ensure timely close-out and incident prevention.
• Conduct internal HSE and legal compliance audits, managing non-conformances to resolution.
• Support external audits, including ISO certification, client visits, and government inspections.
• Manage contractor compliance in accordance with contractor management standards.
• Integrate group HSE standards into the local site.
• Produce monthly H&S reports for management and the safety committee.
• Deliver HSE onboarding for all new employees.
• Maintain HSE management system documents and records.
Additional Daily Focus Areas
• Shop-floor visibility and promotion of H&S values.
• Incident and hazard management.
• Contractor controls.
• Legal compliance oversight.
• Auditing and ISO standard management.
Other Considerations
• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum.
• Experience in Health & Safety management within a manufacturing environment, including ISO standards.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Good level of secondary education, including Maths and English.
• Full driving licence.
