The key purpose of the role is to support the IG Compliance Manager by processing information requestsfor confidential patient information and health records under the Data Protection Act.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate experience and a thorough understanding of all aspects of Information Governance in respect of the Data Protection Act with proven experience of working with stakeholders and employees on their awareness and understanding of IG, the post holder will evidence an excellent track record of processing Subject Access Requests

Key Responsibilities:

Process Subject Access requests to ensure they are completed within thestatutory timeframe

Provide Information Governance advice to staff, patients and public

Support the FoI Committee by organising meetings, taking minutes and preparing documents.

Ensure IG Office operates and maintains the highest ethical standards of confidentiality in managing patient and staff information.

Support the IG Compliance Manager to ensure effective monitoring of the Data Protection mailbox

Provide cover for the Corporate IG Officer role to cover sickness and annual leave.

Maintaining the relevant intranet pages on behalf of the Information Governance Team

Support the overall Information Governance action plan

Deputise for the Information Governance Assurance Manager as required

The Role sits within the Information Governance function, which forms part of the Digital Services team.



Information governance (IG) provides a framework to bring together all the legal rules, guidance and best practice that apply to the handling and security of information.



IG is about setting a high standard for the handling of information through a robust IT security assurance and complying with the law and national standards.



We ensure a high standard of information handling across the Trust, covering information security, data protection, freedom of information and privacy.

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range restaurants.

Crucially, the post holder will support the IG Compliance Manager with the establishment and development of a departmental compliance programme. This will successfully complement the overall Digital Service strategy to actively monitor and evidence the Trust’s compliance with key health and social care IG standards.
