Do you enjoy sharing empathy and compassion to patients? Do you enjoy challenges and working within a friendly multidisciplinary team?

Our Pain Clinic are looking for a Registered Nurse to join their nationally recognised pain service and help us in providing the best care we can to our patients!

You will be responsible for supporting the Pain Clinic team in providing exceptional care for patients suffering with chronic pain within the pain theatre and outpatient pain clinic department.

You will be helping to support patients with long term conditions whilst having opportunities to develop some specialist roles. Part of your role will be to hold telephone follow up clinics and be involved in training sessions for patients using specialised equipment.

You will help to maintain a safe and efficient service being able to work undirected at times, complete essential documentation which means you will require great computer skills.
• To participate in all aspects of Pain Clinic work and deliver a high standard of care and safety too patients and their families.
• The post holder will work within and sometimes lead a clinical care team.
• The post holder will be responsible for assessment, planning, provision of care, admitting, caring for during and after and discharging patients having procedures.
• The post holder will be prepared to learn and practice appropriate specialist skills to accommodate developing services.
• The post holder will take personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring that Trust and local policies and procedures are known and followed and will ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practice set out in NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
• The post holder will take responsibility for the supervision and guidance of other staff including healthcare assistants and students on a daily basis.

• Organise and participate in the delivery of high standards of evidence based nursing care.
• To organise and facilitate nurse led TENS clinics.
• To ensure safe custody of controlled and other drugs.
• To report accidents/incidents, legal and ethical issues in nursing practice in order to protect patients and colleagues.
• To report to the appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team any significant changes in a patient’s condition or situation.
• Take personal responsibility as a team leader for the delivery of care of patients in a defined area.
• Assist with implementation of new developments to ensure their smooth introduction.
• To contribute towards health promotion for all patients by providing education, support or advice as necessary. Ensure referral to appropriate professionals or agencies as required.
• To be responsible for admission assessment and preparation for patients undergoing procedures.
• To be responsible for the safe recovery and discharge after procedures.
• Contribute to effective ordering of supplies, maintenance and repair of equipment.
• To ensure accurate records and operating department registers are maintained
• To have detailed knowledge of manual handling regulations particularly with regards to the moving and handling of patients.
• Ensure safe storage and disposal of substances hazardous to health in accordance with Trust policy. Ensure availability of facilities for disposal of sharps, toxic waste in accordance with trust policy.
• To keep up to date on professional issues and developments in order to maintain high standards of care and professionalism.
• Contribute to creating an environment where teaching, learning and research are encouraged and practiced.
• Participate in teaching, mentorship and assessment of staff.
• Maintain effective communications within the team and with other departments to facilitate effective running of unit.
• Be a source of advice to patient’s relatives and other disciplines.
