Crynodeb
The Regional Heritage Centre (RHC) at Lancaster University is seeking an organised, detail-oriented and motivated Archives Project Officer to support a vital stage in the development and accessibility of one of the University’s and nation’s most significant heritage collections.
This is a part-time, fixed-term post at Grade 6, ideal for an individual with strong experience in archives or heritage projects and a passion for making historical resources accessible to the public.
The RHC strengthens the University’s civic engagement by promoting and celebrating the rich social and cultural heritage of North West England. We work closely with local communities, cultural institutions, and national initiatives, including the Victoria County History of Cumbria.
As Archives Project Officer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the final stages of digitising and publishing the Elizabeth Roberts Working Class Oral History Archive, a collection of international significance that preserves the voices of working-class communities in North West England.
You will also support the development and safeguarding of the Centre’s other archival collections, helping to secure their future accessibility and compliance with professional standards.
Working at Lancaster University
You may occasionally be required to work alone in designated campus areas. Appropriate risk assessments, training and safety procedures will be in place.
For more information or an informal conversation, please contact Dr Christopher Donaldson (c.e.donaldson@lancaster.ac.uk).
