Contract: Fixed Term, Full-Time (32.5 hours per week, 39 term-time weeks including Inset days)

About the Role

Hays Education is proud to be supporting a primary school in Waltham forest in their search for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant. This vital role involves working 1:1 with a child with complex needs, supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and contributing to the wider teaching team.

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with experience in Speech and Language, ADHD, SEMH, and Autism. As a valued member of the teaching team, you will be encouraged to use your initiative and skills to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities

*Provide tailored 1:1 support to a child with complex needs.
*Assist in delivering high-quality learning experiences in line with EHCPs.
*Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support inclusion.
*Use initiative to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
*Uphold safeguarding and behaviour management policies consistently.

What We're Looking For

*At least one year's experience working with SEND children in the primary age range.
*Experience in a friendly, busy school environment.
*Understanding of children with SEN needs.
*Level 2 qualification in play work/childcare.
*Paediatric First Aid qualification (desirable).
*Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures.
*Sympathetic understanding of the emotional, social, and intellectual needs of children with SEN.
*Motivation to inspire confidence in children with special educational needs.

*Ability to build effective relationships with students, parents, and staff.
*Reliable, trustworthy, discreet, and able to maintain confidentiality.
*Firm yet friendly approach with a wide range of personalities.
*Initiative and willingness to follow guidance.
*Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
*Team player with excellent communication skills.

Compliance Requirements

*Hold a valid Enhanced DBS check (on the update service or willing to apply).
*Provide proof of right to work in the UK.
*Supply two recent professional references covering the last two years.
*Complete mandatory safeguarding and compliance training provided by Hays.
