We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

What will you be doing?
As our Business Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in driving growth and managing opportunities within our existing client base, while taking ownership of commercial performance. Working closely with the Business Director, you’ll support the strategic development of the business and, where appropriate, lead the day-to-day operations of a designated contract or business area to achieve company goals and objectives. This role spans multiple functions, including SHEQ, Operations, and Work Planning, and serves as the key interface for client relationships and business development.

You will ensure resource requirements are met for both current and future needs, investing in technical, behavioural, and safety development. Building strong, long-lasting client relationships is central to this role, as is promoting the values of M Group Water and delivering innovative solutions that exceed expectations.
You will be accountable for implementing the highest standards of safety compliance and driving a positive wellbeing culture across the framework. In addition, you’ll provide assurance and governance on quality, support carbon reduction and environmental improvements, and deliver all contractual and commercial KPIs alongside quarterly and annual business plan targets. A key part of your role will involve developing and implementing improvement initiatives, embracing innovation, and adapting new ways of working to benefit both colleagues and clients.
As a member of our senior leadership team, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to corporate initiatives and business development across the UK. We expect you to share your expertise widely, helping M Group Water continually improve our services for clients and colleagues alike. What you’ll bring
- A demonstrable high level of communication and negotiation skills
- Previous Senior Management experience in utility contracting or similar environment
- Possess a high degree of commercial/strategic awareness
- Demonstrate that you have the ability to be decisive and work effectively under pressure
- Uphold a strong customer focus
- You have excellent communication and influencing skills in order to inspire and motivate a team, while effectively managing senior client stakeholders
- You're confident in delegating tasks while maintaining full oversight of all functions within the team
- Have the ability to deal with conflict in a timely and equitable manner by adopting tact and diplomacy in an assertive fashion
