About the Role
The Community Equipment Service (CES) was formally a part of NRS Healthcare and has been established in Hereford for 11 years. The team transferred to Hoople in 2025.
The service is commissioned by Herefordshire Council to provide equipment designed to support independent living and minimise moving and handling risks to people in need across the county and its borders. The CES predominantly serves individuals in their own homes, but also supplies Council appointed facilities.
At its depot in Rotherwas, the service stocks a wide variety of equipment, including adaptive furniture, bariatric equipment, bathing and showering equipment, beds, chairs, moving and handling apparatus, mobility aids, pressure care and toileting equipment. The team can also acquire bespoke equipment if the need is identified.
We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused Driver’s Assistant to support our delivery team with the transportation, setup, and collection of Community Equipment Assets. This role is essential in helping us deliver high-quality service to our service users and ensure equipment is handled, transported, and installed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with the Driver and warehouse team to ensure smooth daily operations, including:

- Safely loading and unloading community equipment assets using best-practice manual handling techniques.
- Assisting the Driver with deliveries and collections
- Delivering and assisting with positioning, assembling, and setting up equipment in service users’ homes.
- Providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive experience for all users.
- Picking, preparing, and loading stock onto vehicles
- Ensuring deliveries are accessible, safe, and completed to a high standard.
- Supporting warehouse operatives when required.
- Adhering to all health & safety and manual handling regulations.
- Occasionally driving vehicles if needed.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:

- The ability to lift up to 25kg safely.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and reliability.
- A commitment to excellent customer service.
- A positive, team-focused attitude.
