Location: North East London

Contract: Permanent (Hybrid)

Pay: £48,000 - £55,000 + Car Allowance

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Disrepair Surveyor to join social housing provider in East London. This is a full-time, permanent role offering an exciting opportunity for an individual to manage and resolve a variety of complex disrepair cases, ensuring high-quality solutions for residents.

In this role, you will oversee both new and historic disrepair cases, conducting thorough surveys, preparing detailed reports, and working closely with contractors and legal teams to resolve issues. Your work will play a critical role in maintaining safe and habitable living conditions for residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Case Management: Oversee a varied caseload of disrepair cases, from initial assessments to final resolutions. Ensure cases are managed in line with housing standards, legal frameworks, and contractual obligations.

  • Surveys & Inspections: Conduct comprehensive property surveys across various stock types, including high-rise flats, purpose-built blocks, street properties, and new builds.

  • Reporting & Specifications: Produce detailed reports and specifications, outlining required repairs in line with Building Standards, The Housing Conditions Protocol, and the Fitness for Human Habitation Act.

  • Collaboration with Legal Teams: Work closely with in-house and external legal teams to resolve cases in a timely manner.

  • Contractor & Stakeholder Management: Manage contractors, ensuring works are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Maintain effective communication with contractors, legal representatives, local authorities, and residents.

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating empathy and professionalism when dealing with residents' disrepair issues and complaints.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Disrepair Surveyor or in a similar surveying role within the social housing or local authority sector.

  • Disrepair Knowledge: Strong understanding of disrepair legislation, including The Housing Conditions Protocol and The Fitness for Human Habitation Act.

  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of construction methods and building standards, with the ability to carry out technical surveys and provide clear recommendations.

  • Qualifications: Educated to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g., Building Surveying). A commitment to continuous professional development is essential.

  • Project Management: Experience managing contractors and external consultants to deliver projects within budget and timescale.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities, with the capability to manage a varied and demanding workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Customer Focus: Proven experience in delivering high-quality customer service and managing complaints with a solution-focused approach.
