Addington School is part of Ascendancy Partnership Trust, a multi-academy trust with deep community roots across the Berkshire area composed of a family of SEN schools all specialising in learning difficulties.
We are able to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team of dedicated and passionate staff as an outreach teacher, commencing January 2026.
The SEND and Inclusion Outreach Service provides specialised support to mainstream schools, enhancing their ability to effectively meet the needs of pupils with a SEND that is significantly impacting their academic, social or emotional development.
The purpose of the outreach service is to support schools to identify and meet the needs of pupils with SEND (for whom a formal diagnosis may or may not have been sought or made); to provide specialist advice, resources, strategies and interventions with the aim of supporting them to maintain placement in their mainstream school setting. The Outreach Service supports school age pupils, with this role focusing more on secondary settings.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher with knowledge and experience of pupils with SEND, especially Autism and experience within mainstream settings, ideally Secondary Schools.
We can offer:
- The opportunity to work within a special school judged ‘outstanding’ with a highly experienced Senior Leadership Team.
- An environment committed to staff development and growing leadership.
- A culture based on coaching and collaboration.
- The opportunity to personalise the Outreach role.
- Membership of an inclusive learning community with SEND expertise.
- A role where creativity and innovation is encouraged.
- A flexible approach to managing your working hours
We are looking for an Outreach Teacher:
- With a passion for teaching and supporting children and young people with learning difficulties
- With a commitment to high professional standards
- Who is a skilled communicator, trainer and team player and is committed to developing themselves and others.
- Who promotes a culture of early intervention and support within mainstream schools.
- Who supports effective inclusion in mainstream schools by providing specialist support, advice and resources;
- Who can increase the awareness and capacity of school staff in mainstream settings through advice and training/modelling of evidence-based strategies to embed SEND strategies into Quality First Teaching;
- Who can deliver training, especially around Autism
- Who can where appropriate work collaboratively with pupils, staff and involve families to embed SEND strategies outside of the classroom to support pupils’ progress.
