Do you care about the environment you live in?
Do you want to make positive change?
Are you a self-assured individual, perhaps looking to do something a little different?
An opportunity has arisen for a positive and ambitious person to work within our Planning Enforcement section at a really exciting time as we work collaboratively with town, parish and community councils who have funded additional enforcement capacity within their areas.
We are implementing our Planning Enforcement Strategy and exploring innovative ways of delivering enforcement functions in partnership with local parish, town and community councils.
The successful candidate will have the ability to hit the ground and to pick up their own caseload, carrying out investigations and writing reports. This is a customer-focused role so you must be able to communicate clearly and liaise with a wide range of stakeholders.
With a good knowledge of the GPDO and Planning Enforcement legislation, or the appetite and ability to pick things up quickly, you will deal with a wide range of breaches including unauthorised development, breaches of condition, changes of use, serving Section 215 notices on untidy sites and TPO-related cases.
You will be an important part of our Planning Enforcement team within an authority that strives for positive outcomes to build a brighter future for the Island, and while the post is initially for a 1 year fixed-term, subject to funding, it could be extended for the right person.
For further information or an informal discussion, please contact Sarah Thorne, Principal Enforcement Officer, sarah.thorne@iow.gov.uk or Russell Chick, Planning Development Manager, russell.chick@iow.gov.uk
