BARTS HEALTH NHS TRUST

TRUST DOCTOR (EQV. TO ST3+ LEVEL) IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE
THE ROYAL LONDON HOSPITAL

TWELVE MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT

We are delighted to invite applications for a 12-month fixed term post in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidates will join The Royal London’s team of Emergency Medicine senior clinical fellows. The post is for candidates with at least 2 year post graduate experience in emergency medicine looking for further experience in a well-supported teaching hospital and major trauma center environment.
Planned start date is February 2026 or as soon as possible after.
The successful candidate will join a friendly, highly motivated, consultant led team delivering high quality emergency care to East London. The department receives a full range of emergencies from the local area in addition to major trauma from North East London and Essex with a total of 180,000 patients seen each year.

The post includes registrar (ST3+) level duties in the emergency department working on a full shift rota. Clinical duties are supported by 24/7 consultant presence, senior training registrars and a team of junior doctors and practitioners.

The post includes 20% non-clinical time which will be dedicated to an area of special interest, to be negotiated by successful applicant(s) in the field of emergency care. Recent examples include ultrasound, education, and quality improvement. All clinical fellow posts have parity in clinical supervision, development and training with training posts.

Many of our previous fellows have been successful in gaining emergency medicine national training posts in the region, as well as going on to take fellowships with the Physician Response Unit and local HEMS services.

Candidates must hold full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice and must have NHS experience.

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.
