This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of phlebotomists working for the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust at the Community Diagnostic Centres.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Community Diagnostic centre Teams based at Broad Street in Calderdale and Southgate in Huddersfield.
The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, be able to work under pressure with the ability to record data accurately and have an approachable nature.
Full and extensive departmental training will be given for the successful candidate.
We are looking for individuals who must have evidence of a good level of education along with a determination to deliver high quality compassionate care to our patients.
The phlebotomy team deliver a high-quality patient focused blood taking service in a wide range of settings across Calderdale and Kirklees. This role will involve working at the community diagnostic centres.
Good IT skills are essential to this post, along with experience of working in a health care setting or customer service focused role . Previous experience in venepuncture would be desirable, but is not essential as we will deliver full training to the right calibre of person.
You must have the ability to work under pressure.
Phlebotomy can be a physically challenging job, which requires manual dexterity, the ability to be on your feet throughout your shift and the ability to manoeuvre in tight and cramped spaces.
We operate a seven-day service between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00, and the post holder will be required to work across all these times to deliver the service. You may also be asked to work on bank holidays.
However, the service requirements are continually changing to meet with needs of the patients, so flexibility is a key component.
• Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality at all times.
• Adhere to Trust Aseptic Non-Touch Technique Policy (ANTT).
• Work unsupervised in our community diagnostic centres.
• Keep fully stocked Phlebotomy trolleys, cupboards and drawers within blood collecting units and support stock taking.
• Maintain work areas and trolleys, keeping them clean, neat, and tidy.
• Undertake surveys/audits when requested to do so.
• Attend to staff and patients queries, referring appropriately.
• Comply with all Health and Safety Regulations
• Use of a visual display unit to book appointments and access the Trust intranet, Q-pulse and work-related e-mails.
• There is a commitment to work a seven-day service inclusive of bank holidays between
the hours of 08:00 and 20:00. Must be flexible to adapt to the needs of the service.
• It will be necessary to cover other staff when required.
• Any duties as defined by the Phlebotomy Operations Manager /CT Service Lead and Team leader in charge.
