Recruit4staff are representing a leading civil engineering business in their search for a Senior Project Manager to work in Seascale

Job Details:

• Pay: Circa £95,000 (Negotiable depending on skillset and experience)
• Hours of Work: Full Time, Monday to Friday, Days (45 hours)
• Duration: Permanent
• Benefits: 8% employer pension contribution, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Job Role: As Senior Project Manager (Pre-Construction), you will lead all early-stage project development activities for a major package supporting nuclear operations, remediation, and decommissioning works. You will manage pre-construction planning, design coordination, constructability, programme development, risk management, stakeholder engagement, procurement strategy, and delivery readiness.

Working alongside internal teams, clients, design partners, subcontractors, and regulatory stakeholders, you will ensure all pre-construction works meet strict nuclear-sector standards in safety, quality, security, and compliance. Your leadership will drive the transition from design into assured, ready-to-deliver construction phases.

This Senior Project Manager (Pre-Construction) role requires a proactive project leader experienced in civil or nuclear-sector pre-construction, with strong skills in planning, governance, and stakeholder interfacing in highly regulated environments.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager on large civil engineering, infrastructure, or nuclear projects
• Background in planning, design management, early-stage strategy, procurement, buildability reviews, and risk management
• Knowledge of nuclear-site standards including safety case compliance, security protocols, CDM, and regulatory liaison
• Leadership of multidisciplinary teams (planners, designers, engineers, commercial, subcontractors)
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and client-facing skills
• Strong ability in programme development, sequencing, and readiness assurance
• NEC contract experience
• Experience on nuclear-licensed sites
• Security clearance (SC or ability to obtain SC)

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

• Experience with major pre-construction or early works packages in nuclear or infrastructure settings
• Chartered status (MICE, MAPM, RICS or equivalent)
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or similar
