About The Role
Paralegal – Commercial
Permanent - £34,000
Full Time - 35 hours / week
Motherwell - hybrid working
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality commercial support within a dynamic in-house legal team, covering a broad range of matters including commercial contracts, commercial and residential leasing, data governance, and compliance. Reporting directly to senior management, the Paralegal will work autonomously and take ownership of various contractual and commercial matters. The role involves close collaboration with procurement and operational teams to support both new and existing business initiatives and ensure compliance. In addition, the Paralegal may be required to assist with ad-hoc projects and address any commercial issues that arise.

About You
Essential Criteria:
Relevant legal qualification (e.g., Paralegal Certificate or equivalent)
Proven experience working as a Paralegal or in a similar legal support role
Demonstrated ability to draft, review and manage commercial contracts
Strong knowledge of commercial contract laws, practice and commercial principles
Awareness of data protection and compliance requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities,
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgement
Proactive and solution-focussed approach
Desirable Criteria:
Previous experience in an in-house legal team or commercial environment
Familiarity with commercial leases and property-related matters
Experience supporting procurement processes or operational teams
Competence in legal research and report writing
Adaptability to handle ad-hoc projects and fast-changing priorities
Third sector/ local authority legislation (health and social care) and contracts and Public Contracts Scotland (PCS)
