We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
You'll cover projects in the South Wales / South West areas, and offer support to the Bids team in Nottingham - willingness to travel is essential!

What will you be doing?
As a Pre-Contract Construction Manager (M&E), you’ll oversee the development of delivery solutions on tendering opportunities for nationwide projects.
Are you keen to be part of a dynamic team, leading the early stages of National Grid capital projects? You’ll;
- Prepare and issue tender documents to subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring scopes are clear and agreed
- Implement construction methods aligned with current legislation, guidance, and best practice
- Develop and apply Construction Phase, Contract, and Project Quality Plans
- Identify and manage safety and environmental risks in delivery solutions
- Review bids for compliance, cost, and capability, resolving ambiguities in drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and client standards
- Continuously seek and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality across projects
What you’ll bring
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Experience in construction management delivering National Grid capital projects - experience within the electrical transmission industry is essential!
- Experience in the development of construction methodologies for new projects
- A working knowledge of National Grid Technical Specifications (TSs) and Supplier Requirements (SRs) is essential
- Be able to draft Microsoft programmes that include plant and resource requirements for each activity
- Excellent relationship management skills - strong communicator with ability to develop and work within collaborative internal and client relationships.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Construction / Project Management qualification would be an advantage, along with an industry related qualification (mechanical / electrical)
