Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A clear understanding of the current 16-19 educational landscape and safeguarding procedures.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Essential Skills

  • Exceptional Subject Knowledge: A deep and current understanding of A Level Psychology and Criminology curricula.
  • A Level Pedagogy: Proven ability to teach complex post-16 concepts effectively, using varied instructional methods.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Skill in adapting teaching materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Classroom Management: Ability to maintain high standards of behaviour and a productive learning environment.
  • Effective Assessment: Expertise in formative and summative assessment for student progress tracking and feedback.
  • ICT Proficiency: Competence in using relevant technology and e-learning platforms to enhance delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Deliver engaging lessons for A Level Psychology and Criminology courses.
  • Assess, Monitor, and Record student progress accurately, providing timely, constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of subject schemes of work and resources.
  • Ensure high levels of student attainment and provide targeted intervention where necessary.
  • Act as a personal tutor, offering academic and pastoral guidance to a group of students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and wider college quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain a stimulating, safe, and well-organised classroom learning environment.
  • Liaise with parents/guardians and external agencies regarding student welfare and progress.
  • Uphold the college's policies on behaviour, safeguarding, and equality.
  • Contribute to the college's enrichment and extra-curricular programme.
