To participate in the provision of a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient. To work in accordance with Departmental Policy, Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems. To assist in the regular review of Standard Operating Procedures. To direct the reprocessing of reusable medical devices: disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, checking, assembly, sterilization, despatch and tracking in a controlled environment. To supervise, organise and allocate work and /or train less experienced/qualified staff. To have an understanding of the Departments Quality Policy, Quality Manual and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that a high standard of work is maintained at all times. Plan your own workload and work with minimal supervision. To report short falls in staffing levels or other operational anomalies to the departments Production Coordinator. To operate decontamination equipment and carry out routine tests in accordance with Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules, Quality Standards and Guidance. To record all routine testing of decontamination equipment. To use manual dexterity and concentration for the disassembly and reassembly of the reusable medical devices in accordance with Manufacturers instructions. To communicate and supervise various enquires from users, and other members of healthcare staff in a polite and helpful manner, seeking scientific advice from Production Coordinators where required. Ensure adequate checks and quality assurance of all items processed through the department. Understand departmental procedures, standards and protocols and deliver a safe quality assured product. To be the secondary point of contact for issues such as missing, dirty or fast track instruments in the event of a Production Coordinator being unavailable. To assist the Production Coordinator in the investigation of any complaints, accidents or incidents and provide feedback as and when required. Will be expected to use knowledge and skills when making decisions with regard to non-conformances. To monitor stocks of raw materials as requested and to take appropriate action on any deficiencies, assist in the evaluation of new products. Meet the demands of the Departments workload whilst consistently achieving high quality standards which will be measured by in-process checks and non-conformance reports. To undertake initial investigation into non-conformance reports as instructed. To ensure that rejected items are adequately labelled, recorded and isolated from approved items. To hold the department bleep and mobile phone when deputising for the Production Coordinator. To respond accurately and quickly to the Decontamination Facilities Management team when requested to extract information via the departments tracking system. Ensure that the Health & Safety Policies of the Trust and the Department are adhered to at all times. Promote good relations both internally and external to North Bristol Trust. To agree a personal development plan though the appraisal process with your line manager. With the assistance of the Production Coordinator create and review the duty rota. Where possible meeting the needs of the individual whilst ensuring the needs of the service are met. Maintain a regular effective system of communication with the department as a whole. To work as part of a team and liaise with the Multidisciplinary Team in a professional manner at all times. To work alongside organisational colleagues in order to contribute to the NBTs vision and values Exceptional healthcare, personally delivered and to contribute fully towards Facilities objectives, divisional and departmental delivery plans. Ensure that Health and Safety issues are brought to the attention of the senior management and resolved quickly. To maintain security of the Decontamination Facilities, equipment and chemicals in accordance with the Departments Policy. To undertake such duties as required, consistent with the responsibility of the grade and needs of the service.
