CAD Design Technician
Telford
Permanent
Up to £32,000 per annum (DOE)
Monday – Friday (Early finish on Fridays)
We are delighted to be supporting a leading Telford-based manufacturer in recruiting an additional CAD Design Technician to join their highly skilled Design Engineering Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking business that champions innovation across both its products and internal processes. The company is eager to integrate AI into its design workflows, and you will play a key role in shaping this transformation.
Working alongside experienced design engineers, you’ll gain exposure to the full product development lifecycle from concept through to production, while contributing meaningfully to live projects. This is a chance to join an industry leader with an outstanding reputation for quality and cutting-edge solutions across dynamic sectors. You’ll start by managing smaller tasks and steadily progress as your skills and confidence grow.
As a CAD Design Technician, you will:
• Assist in creating CAD models and prototypes under the guidance of senior design engineers
• Support the team through concept development and R&D stages
• Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas
• Stay informed on emerging technologies, materials, and methods
• Help build a design library leveraging AI tools
• Collaborate closely with commercial teams
• Represent the business at customer sites, internal meetings, and industry events such as trade shows and exhibitions
We are looking for someone who:
• Has some experience in a design related role (Design Engineer, Design Technician, Trainee Designer) or is a recent graduate
• Possesses strong 3D design skills - SolidWorks preferred, but other 3D packages considered
• Is ambitious, eager to learn, and focused on career development
• Comfortable being customer-facing and providing on-site technical support
• Has experience using AI tools in design processes
• Holds an apprenticeship or degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical or product design advantageous)
The application process:
Our mission is to support our clients in their creation of an equal, diverse and inclusive workforce. We are committed to providing a barrier-free recruitment process, so if you require any reasonable accessibility adjustments within the application process, then please make it known at the earliest opportunity.
We will carefully consider your details and advise you if we're able to progress with your application within 72 working hours. If you do not hear from us within this time your details won’t be retained. So, if you're not successful on this occasion, do continue to respond to future roles we advertise. In the meantime, all good wishes and continued success with your search for employment.
