Job Advert

The Building Design Unit encompasses architectural design services, hard facilities management services and energy & climate change functions. We are now expanding our team to include building services design engineers.

Reporting directly to the Facilities Co-ordinator within the Building Design Unit, you will be responsible for providing technical and design expertise in all aspects of mechanical building services within various buildings and projects across the Council area. This is a wide ranging role which requires an individual who has a broad overview of building services design, capable of working within a multi discipline team and with innovative ideas on energy efficiency and sustainable design.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the scoping, specification and contract management of mechanical term maintenance contracts, and the design and specification of mechanical building services on new build and refurbishment projects.

You will have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline and be a member of a relevant professional engineering institution (CIBSE, IET), or be registered as an incorporated engineer with the Engineering Council or equivalent. You will have relevant post qualification experience in the design of mechanical building services (ventilation, boiler plant, heating & controls, BEMS, water services, gas services, public health & plumbing). You will also be responsible for the oversight of the appointment, briefing and work standards of external consultants engaged by the Council.

Further details of the key responsibilities and requirements are shown in the job description.
