Neway International are seeking a Recycling Advisor to join our client Camden Council.
Location: Berol House, Unit 1B, Camden
Hours: 36 per week (Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 – 18:00, with flexibility for earlier/later shifts)
Start Date: 29/12/2025 (initially for a 3 month contract, that will be extended after review.
Pay Rates: £17.77 PAYE / £23.09 Umbrella
About the Client
North London Waste Authority (NLWA), hosted by Camden Council, serves two million residents across seven boroughs. Its mission is to preserve resources and protect the environment for future generations. NLWA runs campaigns to reduce waste, encourage reuse, and promote recycling, alongside delivering education programmes in schools and at its new Edmonton centre. Through the North London Heat and Power Project, NLWA is building the country’s greenest Energy Recovery Facility and modern recycling facilities at the Edmonton EcoPark.
The Role
As a Recycling Advisor, you will help increase participation in recycling services and reduce contamination by engaging directly with residents and businesses. This is a hands-on role involving property surveys, door-to-door visits, and education campaigns to promote effective recycling and waste reduction.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct surveys and assessments of residential properties to identify recycling behaviours and barriers.
Engage with residents through door-to-door visits, community events, and roadshows.
Provide tailored advice on correct recycling practices and waste reduction.
Monitor participation levels and capture resident feedback to inform campaigns.
Distribute leaflets and materials to encourage recycling.
Support communications and social media campaigns with local insights.
Maintain accurate records of visits, surveys, and engagement activities.
Collaborate with collections, communications, and enforcement teams to address recycling challenges.
Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as required.
Candidate Requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in engaging residents face-to-face.
Experience in customer service, community engagement, or environmental awareness roles.
Ability to maintain accurate records and report findings clearly.
Knowledge of recycling and waste reduction practices (desirable).
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends when required.
Commitment to promoting sustainability and supporting NLWA’s mission.
This is a temporary vacancy cover role, offering the opportunity to make a direct impact on recycling participation and sustainability across North London.
