Job Title: Female Personal Care Assistant
Responsible to: The employer – L’S parents
Hours: Up to 27 hours per week plus extra hours
Work Pattern: Tuesday – 18.00 to 22.00
Wednesday – 18.00 to 22.00
Thursday – 8.00 to 15.00
Friday - 18.00 to 22.00
Sunday 8:00 – 13.00
Location: Upper Bucklebury, RG7
Rate of pay: £15.97 Weekday/evening rate, £20.75 weekend/bank holiday rate

This is a unique opportunity to work within our family home to help support our incredible daughter “L” who is 23 years old. She is a happy peaceful person who requires continuous one to one support. She is calm and has no challenging behaviours. She requires help with all her daily needs including personal care, communicating and movement around the home and on outings. You will join a dedicated team of family and Personal Assistants.
Extra hours are necessary to cover PA team holidays, sickness and parent’s respite breaks. By arrangement.
Why this role exists - Purpose
To ensure day and evening activities support L’s needs and interests; to live a full and enriching life.
To ensure her NIV (Non invasive ventilation) device and its use is supervised when required. This may occasionally include oxygen use as well.
To respond to L’s hygiene needs
To closely monitor L when she is having an epileptic episode or at risk of an epileptic episode
To support L’s optimal posture and body functioning by carrying out agreed exercises
To support her at mealtimes and to follow the agreed meal plan (she has identified allergies)
To undertake light domestic and administrative duties to support L’s family and the PA team as required throughout the day and evening

Specific tasks:
1. Ensure L is always observed and monitored.
2. To ensure L is correctly and safely positioned when sitting, travelling and active
3. To supervise L’s use of the NIV device during the day when required
4. To ensure the NIV device is working correctly, if not to report any issues promptly
5. To write up the daytime/evening shift notes to enable correct monitoring and handover to the night shift
6. To ensure L’s hygiene needs are met
7. To be prompt in responding to L’s needs when she has an episode and apply the agreed protocol
8. To ensure L’s dietary and drinking needs are met as agreed
9. To undertake relevant cleaning (including the NIV device) and housework to support L’s family and meal preparations as required
10 To undertake admin support e.g., printing L’s monitoring sheets
11. Prepare food that has been batched cooked in advance

Personal Specification
Must be able to drive
A good level of general fitness and flexibility is required.
Punctuality and reliability essential.
Able to work extra hours when required to support the PA team and parent’s respite breaks
Be patient and supportive.
Be friendly and outgoing.
Be honest and trustworthy.
Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality.
You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
You should have some knowledge and understanding of risks.
