Are you passionate about supporting women, birthing people, babies, and families during one of the most important moments of their lives?

Join our dedicated maternity team as a Band 3 Maternity Care Assistant and make a real difference every day. Working alongside midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team, you’ll play a vital role in providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.

From offering practical help and emotional support to assisting with essential clinical tasks, this is a rewarding and hands-on role where no two days are the same. If you are caring, committed, and ready to be part of a supportive team in a busy, 24/7 maternity service, we’d love to hear from you.
• Work under the supervision of registered midwives to support safe, high-quality, and compassionate care for women, birthing people, babies, and families throughout antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
• Provide hands-on personal care, including assistance with hygiene, mobility, and comfort needs.
• Assist with routine observations such as temperature, pulse, and respiration, reporting any concerns promptly to a midwife or senior member of staff.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and adherence to infection prevention and control standards.
• Offer emotional support and reassurance to women and families, helping to create a calm, inclusive, and supportive environment.
• Contribute to effective teamwork by communicating clearly with colleagues, participating in handovers, and supporting safe patient flow.
• Adhere to Trust policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding, confidentiality, manual handling, and infection control.
• Engage in training and continuous professional development to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills relevant to maternity care.
• Support quality improvement initiatives, audits, and service development activities as required.
• Work as part of a 24/7 maternity service on a rota basis, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
• Enable midwives to focus on complex clinical responsibilities by delivering essential care and support tasks within the maternity team.
