PRODUCTION OPERATIVE – ROTHERWAS, HEREFORD

Chunc Limited is a family run business and forms part of the HR Smith Group. We design, develop and manufacture a range of manual attendant controlled wheelchairs in our factory based in Hereford. We offer indoor and outdoor mobility solutions for children and young adults with moderate to profound disabilities. Our highly adaptable chair designs are able to accommodate complex postural needs.

As a business, we strongly believe in investing in product design and supporting the British manufacturing industry. Being part of the HR Smith Group, Chunc is able to work alongside our aerospace manufacturing teams, drawing on their extensive engineering experience and machine and mould shop facilities. We pride ourselves on producing user friendly, stylish and highly adaptable seating solutions.

We are looking to recruit a Production Operative to strengthen our assembly and refurbishment operations, supporting manufacturing, stores, dispatch and packing. The successful applicant will take personal responsibility for delivering quality workmanship and a key member in our production team in a fast-paced workshop environment. Joining Chunc means working on products that genuinely improve people’s mobility and independence. It is a role where your skill, initiative and reliability will be valued. You'll be part of a production team where practical experience matters more than qualifications, and where you can make a real contribution.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assemble, test, repair and refurbish wheelchair systems and sub-assemblies to specification.
• Support stores, packing and dispatch departments as required to maintain flow and delivery.
• Use hand and power tools and perform manual handling and extended standing tasks in a workshop setting.
• Record and manage work via standard documentation, basic IT systems and production tracking tools.
• Maintain high standards of quality, cleanliness and safety at all times.
• Work independently and reliably, whilst contributing to the production team’s objectives and continuous improvement.

Attributes:
• Minimum two years’ recent hands-on experience in mechanical or product assembly (preference for mobility equipment or similar precision devices).
• Confident with hand and power tools, manual handling, standing for long periods and working in a busy workshop.
• Basic IT literacy (Word, Excel); familiarity with MRP/CRM systems advantageous.
• Strong work ethic, self-motivated, able to take responsibility for output and work with minimal supervision.
• Resilient, adaptable and willing to engage in a production team environment with evolving demands.

We have a positive, professional and welcoming environment; you will have the opportunity to work within a fully integrated multidisciplinary business. We offer good job security and stability with career development opportunities for the right candidate.
• Full time position.
• Hours are based on a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm with half an hour each day for lunch. No weekend, evening or bank holiday working.
• Salary commensurate with experience.
• Free internal training provided as required.
• Opportunities to progress, promote internally and up skill.
• Due to the nature of the business being a manufacturing environment, working from home arrangements are not available.

Benefits:
• Free onsite parking.
• Free refreshments (tea and coffee).
• Casual dress.
• Company social events.
• Opportunity for company bonuses.
• Cost of living reviews carried out annually by the Directors.
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday off (to be taken any time in the year).
• Long service holiday accrual scheme where you gain 1 extra holiday day per year from 5-10 years’ service up to a maxi-mum of 26 days.
• Life Insurance Scheme – 3x annual salary.
