Main Duties and Responsibilities To recognise own strengths and weaknesses and ask for help when unsure from the parents or childrens continuing care nurse To build professional relationships with families who may be stressed and finding it difficult to cope with a child who has very complex health needs Communicate effectively and appropriately with children who have complex health needs and/or learning difficulties To carry out nursing tasks as per daily care plan To ensure a safe environment and the safe use of equipment and reporting any unsafe environment or unsafe use of equipment to the Team Leader To identify changes in the childs condition assessing and referring appropriately to parents and/ or community nurse In an emergency know what to do and who to contact Some Line Management of Junior staff following training Communication Communication Ensure that all organisational-wide communication is accessed and adhered to accordingly via the @ccs.nhs.uk and/or nhsmail.net account given upon start of employment. This also applies to communication sent via internal or external mail, fax, or memo and LCS Intranet People Management Parents and families of children with very complex needs Childrens Community Nurses Carers from other agencies e.g. social services, nursing agencies, schools Clinical and Practice Governance Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed, or transferred electronically must be undertaken regarding the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies. The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. The post holder must participate in Clinical & Safeguarding audits as required Provide patients and their families /carers with information on standards they should expect from the team Participate in clinical supervision on a regular basis The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team.
