Senior Buyer Opportunity
My client is a national contractor delivering complex building services packages across major public and private sector schemes. Off the back of significant project wins-including a £150m+ MOJ scheme-they are looking to appoint a Buyer to strengthen their procurement function. You'll join an established, supportive team and will be central to coordinating materials purchasing across a variety of live M&E projects.
As a Buyer, you will take responsibility for:
- Managing the procurement of materials and equipment to meet project cost, quality and programme targets.
- Sourcing and securing competitive prices through effective negotiation and market comparison.
- Issuing and managing purchase orders to ensure accuracy and timely supply.
- Building strong working relationships with key suppliers and attending site or manufacturer visits when required.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs and enhance supply chain performance.
- Monitoring supplier performance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Working closely with project and commercial teams to ensure procurement aligns with operational needs.
Senior Buyer Requirements:
- Previous experience in a procurement, supply chain, or buying role within the construction or building services or related industry.
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence negotiating costs and terms.
- A good understanding of materials management and supply chain processes.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external suppliers.
- Competent in analysing costs, comparing quotations, and making informed purchasing decisions.
- A proactive, organised approach with an eye for detail.
Other Desirable skills include:
- Relevant training / qualifications or willingness to acquire them
- Familiarity with M&E suppliers and product ranges.
