Teacher of History
Permanent
MPS/UPS plus Potential TLR
Flexible starts avalable
ECTs encouraged to apply
I am partnering with a secondary school in Thurrock, Essex, to recruit a Teacher of History for a permanent position. The school can offer a start date in January 2026, April 2026 or September 2026, and is open to applications from both ECTs and experienced teachers. This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly Humanities faculty and to inspire young people with a love of History.
The successful candidate will teach History across KS3 and KS4, with the potential for A Level teaching for the right person. The department offers a well-planned curriculum that covers a broad range of British and world history, and there is genuine scope to contribute to curriculum refinement and enrichment activities such as trips, clubs and themed events. You will be joining a team that values collaboration, shared planning and reflective practice.
From the school's perspective, they are looking for someone who can bring History to life, foster critical thinking and help pupils make strong progress, regardless of their starting points. ECTs can expect a structured induction, regular mentoring and release time. For more experienced teachers, there may be opportunities for additional responsibility, and TLRs could be available to candidates who can contribute to leadership within Humanities, curriculum development or whole-school initiatives.
If you would like to find out more about this Teacher of History vacancy in Thurrock, please contact me for a confidential conversation. I will ensure I understand your experience, your preferred key stages and your longer-term ambitions, and I will support you with tailoring your application and preparing thoroughly for interview.
